2020 Jamb Subject Combination For All Courses

The preparation for Jamb is quite different from other exams. You get to prepare based on a specific subject combination suitable for your course of choice. Reading other subjects that you won’t face is totally a waste of time. Below is the list of courses approved by NUC and subject combination you need to prepare for as a Jamb candidate.

Subject Combination for Courses in Agriculture:

  • Agric Extension Services: English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science plus Mathematics or Physics.
  • Agriculture: English, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture and any one of Physics and Mathematics.
  • Fisheries: Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and any other Science subject.
  • Forestry: Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture and Physics or Mathematics.
  • Home Science: English Language, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and one (1) other subject.
  • Wildlife: Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture and Physics or Mathematics.

Subject Combination for Courses in Arts:

  • English Literature: Use of English, Literature–in-English, one other Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subject.
  • Foreign and African Languages: (English, Igbo, German, Yoruba, etc.): Use of English, Literature in English, Government or History or any other Arts subjects.
  • Hausa: Use of English, Hausa, Literature-in-English and any of Economics, Government, History and Arabic.
  • History and International Studies: Use of English, History /Government and any other two subjects from Arts & Social Science.
  • Igbo: Use of English, Igbo and two subjects from Arts and social Sciences.
  • International Studies and Diplomacy: Use of English, Economics, Literature-in-English and Geography /Government / History.
  • Linguistics: Use of English, two relevant Arts subjects and any other subject.
  • Music: Use of English, Music, one other Arts subject plus any other subject.
  • Philosophy: Use of English, Government and any other two subjects.
  • Religious Studies: Use of English Language, CRK/IRS and any two other subjects.
  • Theater Arts: Use of English, Literature in English and two other relevant subjects.

 Subject Combination for Courses in Education:

  • Education Management: Use of English, and any three of Lit. in English, History, French, Geography/Physics, Economics and Mathematics.
  • Home Economics Education: Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and one other subject.
  • Human Kinetics Education: Use of English, Biology and any two relevant subjects
  • Physical Education: Use of English language, Biology and any two relevant subjects.
  • Political Science Education: Use of English, Government or History plus two other Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

 Subject Combination for Courses in Engineering

  • Agricultural Engineering: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Building Technology: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Chemical Engineering: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Civil Engineering: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Computer Engineering: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Electronic & Electrical Engineering: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Environmental Engineering: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Food Technologies: Use of English, Chemistry, Mathematics / Physics and Agricultural Science.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Metallurgical Engineering: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

  • Actuarial Science: Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any Social Science subject.
  • Business Administration: Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any Social Science subject.
  • Finance & Banking: Use of English, Mathematics, one Social Science subject and any other subject.
  • Insurance: Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any Social Science subject.
  • Marketing: Use of English, Mathematics, Economics plus one other relevant Subject.
  • Public Administration: Use of English, Government, Economics and any other subject.

Subject Combination for Courses in Medicine

  • Anatomy: English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry or Physics.
  • Dentistry: Use of English, Chemistry, Biology and one Science subject.
  • Medical Laboratory Science: English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Medical Rehabilitation: Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Medicine and Surgery: Use of English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Nursing: Use of English, Physics, Biology and Chemistry.
  • Pharmacy: Use of English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Physiology: Use of English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

  • Chemistry (including industrial & Biochemistry): Use of English, Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics.
  • Computer Science: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agric Science, Economics and Geography.
  • Cooperative and Rural Development: Use of English, Mathematics, Economics plus one other subject.
  • Economics: Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and any of Government, History, Geography, Literature in English, French and CRK/IRK.
  • Estate management: Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other subject.
  • Geography: Use of English, Geography and any two of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Agricultural Science.

  • Sociology and Anthropology: Use of English, Three Social Science or Arts Subjects.

  • Surveying and Geoinformatics: Use of English, Physics, Mathematics, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology and Economics.
  • Urban and Regional Planning: English, Mathematics, Geography and one of Economics, Physics, Chemistry.
  • Zoology: Use of English, Biology and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
