Covenant University General Admission Requirements

Senior Secondary School Certificate, SSCE requirements

The minimum entry requirements for admission into Covenant University are credit level passes in five (5) subjects at the SSCE/GCE O’Level/NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent, obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.

The subjects passed must include English Language and Mathematics. Candidates are also to note that there are other requirements that may be specific to a College and/or a Department.

JAMB Requirements for CU

Candidates applying to Covenant University are required to sit for the UTME examination of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain the prescribed cut-off mark. Applicants are strongly advised to ensure that their UTME subject combination qualifies them for their chosen programme. Any candidate desiring to apply for a change of course after filling out the forms must make their application to JAMB.

Sociology: Duration: 4 years,  Degree: B.Sc. Requirements: Candidates must possess credit passes in five (5)  subjects including Mathematics, English Language, and any three (3) Social Science, Commercial, or Arts  Subjects.

JAMB Subject Combination: English Language and any three (3) of the following: Economics, Commerce, Government, Geography, Civic Education, History, Christian Religious Knowledge, Literature-in-English, and Mathematics.

Mass Communication: Duration: 4 years,  Degree: B.Sc. Requirements: With options in Journalism and Online Mass Communication and Broadcast. (4 years). Candidates must  possess credit passes in five (5)  subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Literature-in-English, and any other two (2) Subjects.)

JAMB Subject Combination: English Language, Literature-in-English, and any other two Arts or Social Science Subjects.

Marketing: Duration: 4 years, Degree: B.Sc. Requirements: Candidates must possess credit passes in five (5)  subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two (2) Social science, Commercial, or Science Subjects.

JAMB Subject Combination: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other subject.

Industrial Relation and Human Resource Management: Candidates must possess credit passes in five (5) subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two (2) Social science, Commercial, or Science Subjects.

JAMB Subject Combination: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other subject.

Economics: Candidates must possess credit passes in five (5) subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two (2) Subjects.

JAMB Subject Combination: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other Social Science Subject

Business Administration: Candidates must possess credit pass in five (5)  subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two (2) Social science, Commercial, or Science Subjects.)

Banking and Finance: Candidates must possess credit pass in five (5) subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two (2) Social science, Commercial, or Science Subjects.)

Kindly note that Covenant University does not take Direct Entry (DE) students. So if you are looking for CU direct entry requirements, it is not available because there is no entry for DE candidates.

Covenant University Cutoff Mark and Screening Demand

Covenant University cutoff mark is an agreed score that is determined by the management of the school, and it is used for admission for a particular session. This score varies from one department to another. In most cases, it is the number of candidates to be admitted that determines the admission criteria the school will use.

Covenant University’s cutoff mark which is 180 is always in line with what JAMB approves as a minimum score. Scoring more than this mark will be an added advantage when the competition for the course you want to study is high.

CU Screening Details

Having met the O’level requirements (credit level passes in five (5) subjects at the SSCE/GCE O’Level/NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent, obtained at not more than two (2) sittings) and JAMB minimum score (180), CU conducts screening exercise for all candidates seeking admission to the University.

Only qualified applicants who fulfill the demands of the screening exercise will be admitted.

  • During post-UTME registration, a statement of purpose, SOP (not more than 500-word count) will be prepared and submitted online with the application. The personal statement should address your intellectual interests, academic and professional objectives, visions, and goals for life.
  • There will be a computer-based post-UTME screening, which will take place at Covenant University, Canaan Land, Km. 10 Idiroko Road, Ota, Ogun State. The screening schedule would be accessible via the Screening Booking.
