About Alvan Ikoku College of Education 

Alvan Ikoku Federal College Of Education, Owerri was established in April 1963 as the Advanced Teachers Training College by the defunct Eastern Nigeria Government on the grounds of the Old Shell Camp, Owerri.

It has since expanded across the Orlu Road on the banks of the Nworie River. It awards its graduates with the National Certificate in Education (NCE) and the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE).

The College of Education is affiliated with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) since 1984. The Provost is Dr. (Mrs.) Stella Ngozi Lemchi.

It is located in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, Nigeria.

Alvan Ikoku College of Education Owerri (ALVANIKOKU) Admission Requirements:

ALVANIKOKU admission requirements through UTME;

1) Candidates must have reached the age of 16.

2) Candidates must have at least 6 (six) “Cs (Credits)” grades in their O’level result (s).

3) Candidates must score at least 100 in the JAMB UTME examination.

 

Admission Requirements Through Direct Entry;

1) To qualify for the Alvan Ikoku College of Education Owerri Direct Entry, candidates must possess either an OND, HND, NCE, A-Level, or a recognized diploma certificate from a reputable institution.

 

2) Additionally, candidates must have five credit passes in O’ Level subjects, including English and Mathematics, at not more than two sittings.

 

3) Candidates must also fulfill all O/level and DE requirements for the course of choice as advertised by JAMB.

 

ALVAN IKOKU COLLEGE OF EDUCATION OWERRI TUITION FEE FOR NCE FRESH AND RETURNING STUDENTS:

1) FRESH NCE STUDENTS (Indigenes) Pay Between 45,000 to 60,000 Naira per session (First and Second Semester)

2) FRESH NCE STUDENTS (Non-Indigenes) Pay Between 35,000 to 50,000 Naira per session (First and Second Semester)

3) RETURNING STUDENTS (Indigenes) Pay between 15,000 to 20,000 Naira (Depending on the course)

4) RETURNING STUDENTS (Non-Indigenes) pay between 20,000 to 25,000 Naira per session (This also depends on the course being offered).

The acceptance fee is around 10,000 Naira per newly admitted student.

The above school fees are for the 2023/2024 academic session, however, newly admitted students are to clarify from the school’s bursary department as regards the school fees stated here before going ahead to make payments.
