List Of Nigerian Military Schools, Courses Offered, And Requirements
List of Military Universities in Nigeria (Navy, Airforce and Army):
Currently, there are two main (2) military universities in Nigeria but apart from them are some others that are yet to be as popular but deliver authorized military-based training to their cadets.
1) Nigerian Defense Academy NDA Kaduna
The widely known Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) is unparalleled and maintains first place on our full list of military universities in Nigeria. It is situated in Kaduna state and is also the first and most coveted and is the most recognized military university in Nigeria.
NDA was created in January 1964 as a replacement for the British-run Royal Military Forces Training College (RMFTC), which had been renamed the Nigerian Military Training College (NMTC) after Nigeria’s independence.
This military university since its inception has successfully trained the officer corps of the wing of the Nigerian Military (Nigerian Army, Air Force, and Navy.)
It didn’t start providing undergraduate programs until 1985 to officers in training, and since then, it now offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs even to graduates of civilian universities.
The duration of training at the Nigerian Defence Academy is five years (four years of academic training and one year of military training).
The role of the Academy is to provide each officer cadet with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to meet the requirements of a military officer through military, academic, and character development.
In essence, the NDA is an institution where selected young able-bodied men and women are groomed into well-educated, courageous, virile, and erudite subalterns
NDA was hatched as a realignment of the British-run Royal Military Forces Training College, is arguably Nigeria’s most competitive institution, with many applicants.
