The University of Africa, Toru-Orua is a public university located in Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. It was founded in 2016.

University of Africa (UAT) is a very small coeducational higher education institution. UAT offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), and bachelor degrees in several areas of study.
This 2-year-old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students’ past academic records and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. UAT also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sports facilities and/or activities, financial aids and/or scholarships, as well as administrative services.

Important Points to Note
- Accommodation is optional. Nonetheless, students are encouraged to stay in the University Hostels
- The prevailing rates of the University Hostel Accommodation are as follows:
- Undergraduates (Toru-Orua Campus): N50,000 per academic session
- School of Foundation Studies/JUPEB (Bulou-Orua Campus): N50,000 per academic session
- Laboratory Fee of N25,000 per academic session applies to all students of the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Agriculture.
- Students are to pay all their fees in full on or before the commencement of the 1st Semester examinations
- All the same, students may contact the Bursar and agree on a payment plan
The fees charged by the university are a reflection of the superior quality of instructional services it offers, as well as the type of accommodation and other student services offered.
The university also offers various forms of financial assistance to reduce the total fee burden as detailed below.
While the university prefers that payments be made in full before the start of each session, under special circumstances, students may be allowed to pay per semester, but before the beginning of each semester. In some cases, the university may allow for payments to be made in two or three installments.
Discounts
All students who pay their fees in full up to 7 days BEFORE the start of the session, will receive a 10% discount.
Payments per semester received up to 7 days before the start of the semester will enjoy a 5% discount.
Payment by installment
In those cases where an arrangement for payment by installment has been approved, a minimum down payment amounting to 40% of the total payable must be made at the time of signing the agreement to pay by installment.
The balance must then be paid in two equal installments, the first of which must be paid before end-of-semester examinations. The remainder must be paid before the start of the next semester.
Scholarship
For the 2020/2021 session, the university has a limited number of scholarships which will cover up to N280,000 per session for the first 100 applicants to pay their acceptance fee of N20,000..
UAT Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the University of Africa Toru Orua Bayelsa State, you must meet the following requirements:
A) UAT Admission Requirements by UTME
Applicants must have reached the age of 16.
Applicants must have at least 6 (six) “Cs (credits)” in their O’level result(s). This must include English, Math, and three other subjects related to their curriculum. For example, a candidate who wants to study law must have a “C” in English, Mathematics, Government/History, Economics, and Literature in English.
Applicants must score at least 160 points in the JAMB UTME exam
Candidates must take the UAT post-UTME screening exam and do very well in the exam (depending on the program of study)
No more than one sitting result is accepted for admission to UAT
Candidates must choose the appropriate combination of subjects for their subject. Finally, applicants must meet the specified cut-off points for their courses to gain admission to the university.
- B) UAT Admission Requirements by Direct Entry:
Candidates seeking direct admission to UAT must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must have at least five (5) credits in their O’level results. This must include English language and math. However, the results of two sessions are not allowed.
Applicants must also be 16 years old. Applicants must obtain the JAMB registration form directly from JAMB to apply.
Candidates must have one of the following certificates:
OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, ICAN.
