Gombe State University is a state-owned university located in Tudun Wada, an area in Shamaki Ward, Gombe State, Nigeria. It is located in the Northern part of Nigeria.
The university produces graduates to enable them to engage in productive political, economic, and social activities. The university has no religious affiliation. As a state-owned university, it is affordable, with low tuition and accommodation costs.
It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The state university has a Chancellor and 11 members of the governing council, as well as principal officers and management staff. Abdullahi Mahadi was the first vice chancellor of the university.

The Gombe State University (GSU) acceptance fee for the 2023/2024 academic session is estimated from N5,000 to N20,000. This fee is mandatory and non-refundable for every newly admitted 100L student.

GSU Admission Requirements For 2023/2024
A)Below are the requirements for candidates who wish to gain admission into GSU through JAMB (UTME):
- A minimum of 5 credits in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE/GCE) Ordinary Level Credits in a maximum of 2 sittings.
- You must choose the correct JAMB subject combination for your course. Check the JAMB Brochure!
- Candidates must score at least 180 in the just concluded JAMB UTME examination to be offered admission into the Gombe State University.
- You Must Participate in GSU POST UTME/SCREENING to be considered for admission if any for the year.
- Candidates must have reached the age of 16.
- Additional requirements might apply for some programmes and these can be viewed after selecting the Programme and entry-level at the school website when you are about to obtain the post-UTME form.
B) GSU Admission Requirements For Direct Entry (DE) 2023/2024:
- A minimum of 5 credits in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE/GCE) Ordinary Level Credits in a maximum of 2 sittings.
- Candidates must have ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in two subjects that are related to their area of study.
- JUPEB/A’ Level passes in Related subjects.
- Degree (First Class/Second Class Upper) in related fields for your course of choice.
- Direct entry candidates are required to purchase the GSU Direct Entry form through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) And GSU Portal.
- A minimum of Merit Pass in the National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma (ND), and other Advanced Level Certificates.
- Additional requirements might apply for some programmes and these can be viewed after selecting the Programme and entry-level at the school website when you are about to obtain the post-UTME form.
